It's Elbow Grease Time
March 24, 2008
A friend of mine asked me recently whether I'm at where I want to be when it comes to my Internet marketing projects. In particular, he said, "All you'd have to do is scale the size."
And the fact of the matter is, no. Why?
1. I don't know exactly why the sites work because I tried different experiments and never really tracked what worked and what did work. So yes, they make me a steady income, but scaling the size of each project would be a challenge.
2. These are not set and forget income streams.
So lately, I've been looking at a lot of different methods, with the aim of developing my own blueprint to setting up set and forget income streams. Something that I can do over and over again.
I think I've found something. I'm still not 100% sure that the method I've developed is one that will work at least most of the time, if not all of the time. So I'm still in the testing and implementation phase. But at least I have a blueprint of sorts, and I've been seeing a success level that's very encouraging.
It's work-intensive at the beginning, and that's why I titled this post "It's Elbow Grease Time". But the work that I put in now can be used over and over again with my "blueprint". So I'm keeping this in mind as I work. It helps to keep me motivated.
The beauty of this blueprint is that I can use it to develop any type of site. I will be trying out a number of different business models, not really in the hopes of finding what type of site works best, but more to incorporate a variety of income-producing methods into my portfolio of sites.
The disadvantage of this blueprint of mine is that it involves a portfolio of sites. So I'm back to the "I own a zillion domains" game, but with one huge difference: each of these domains should become money makers. They will all add value, too, to the overall "Internet experience" of surfers.
And while I'm aiming for Five Bucks a Day for each net "property", there is clearly the potential for more. (And if you haven't read Five Bucks a Day, you should. Now. Especially if taking action is one of your biggest challenges.)
I'll write more about my blueprint and results in future posts. In the meantime, I'm rolling up my sleeves and getting into the work!
