What's New: Free Ebook, New Challenge and More
February 04, 2008
I've been quiet all this week - I've been engrossed in the Mini Money Site Kickoff Challenge over at E1KD. I had a great time, although I didn't come anywhere near my goals. You can read about my results here.
So I'm catching up on some news, generally and personally:
Free Affiliate Marketing Ebook: Jeremy Palmer, the author of High Performance Affiliate Marketing, has decided to offer both the 2007 edition and the upgrade that he's working on (which he will be calling Quit Your Day Job) for free. High Performance Affiliate Marketing is one of the best affiliate marketing books I've ever read - it's up there with Rosalind Gardner's Super Affiliate Handbook. So if you don't have a copy yet, you can get a free copy of High Performance Affiliate Marketing here. Jeremy's focus now is on building a community. He's a very nice guy, and gave me a tip once, way back when, that I finally got around to implementing last year, and I saw a very nice increase in income as a result.
100 Mini Site Challenge: While I didn't reach my goals last week during the E1KD MMS Challenge, I've decided to continue on with the challenge on a personal level. This year, I intend to make a full-time income from affiliate marketing. In order to do this, I will have to develop more streams of income than I have in place right now. Doing the 100 MMS Challenge will help me get there.
Forbes Blog Network: A very interesting thing happened last week. Someone contacted me from Forbes about one of my blogs, asking me to join the new Forbes Blog Network in the Finance and Business category. I'm looking through the 8 page contract right now. There are benefits to joining, but it also happens to be a blog where I'm not running any ads, so I'm unsure how my readers will take it. I'll keep you all updated on this aspect of it.
Cooking, Anyone? Another interesting thing happened to me recently. A couple of weeks ago, my husband discovered cooking. And since then, he's been cooking up a storm (yes, I like it very much!). How is this applicable to Web publishing?
Well, I have a food blog that has been languishing from lack of care (and cooking on my end). We've decided that we will work on the site now together: he'll continue to cook, and I'll write the posts and hone my food photography skills.
I'm very excited about this, because I have always loved this particular blog, but the fact is, I love food, I love reading cookbooks, I love eating ... but the actual cooking is the obstacle. So this year I'm hoping our joint efforts will revive this beloved but neglected cooking blog of mine. Once we start going strong there, I will post a link here for you all to check out.
So that's the news for now. I'll be blogging about my progress on the 100 MMS Challenge over at Niche Marketing Journey, so if you're interested, you can follow along with me there!
