WidgetBucks Payment and Comments
January 05, 2008
Okay, time really flies. It doesn't seem like that long ago that I was posting about waiting for that first WidgetBucks payment - and I received it a few days ago, via Paypal.
Things are rolling along nicely now, and I probably won't post much more about WidgetBucks unless I add it to another one of my sites. Right now, it's doing nicely on two of my tech-related blogs. My stats so far:
From November 18 to November 30: $188.49 (this is the amount that I just got paid) - this includes the sign-up bonus of $25, which WidgetBucks has just announced they will be discontinuing effective January 15. So if you haven't signed up yet with them, you'll need to sign up before the 15th in order to qualify for the $25 sign-up bonus. (Feel free to use my aff link, by the way!)
For the month of December: $522.28
And my final comments on WidgetBucks:
- Obviously, I'm thrilled to have found this new stream of income. I currently have the WidgetBucks code up on only two of my blogs, and considering they were both making about two or three dollars a day with Adsense, I'm very happy with the results so far.
- While the WidgetBucks ads load slowly, I'm finding that this hasn't really had an effect on the CTR. I think this is because while the ad is loading, you get a little gray box where the ad is loading, and the rest of your site continues to load (instead of being delayed as can sometimes happen with Adsense, if your Adsense javascript comes before your content). Also, since I'm using this on blogs where people do tend to stick around to read the content, by the time they've finished reading the content, the ad is fully loaded - right around the time they're ready to click on something!
- The niche is important. As I've mentioned in a previous post, I have the code running on two blogs which are run in exactly the same format, right down to using the exact same template. The only difference is the actual product that's covered. One product does five times better than the other. So you do need to test out WidgetBucks on different niches to find some winners.
I do have a few other sites that might benefit from WidgetBucks, but they're rather new and still in the process of having new pages added. It's nice to have another income stream to fall back on, though. Especially since I'm STILL having no luck with Adsense!

I just signed up. I thought I signed up for this when you first posted about it. Hopefully my account will get approved soon so I can implement it on my blogs.
