My WidgetBucks Update
December 13, 2007
I know - two posts in one day! Will wonders never cease?
I just wanted to give a WidgetBucks update. First, the problem that I had earlier this week has been resolved. It looks like they were in the process of switching over to a new look in their stats area, so that's probably why I wasn't seeing any stats. (Mind you, support didn't tell me this. They just told me they would get someone to "debug the problem") I can now see the impressions and clicks for the days when it was showing zero, and everything looks pretty well normal, except that yesterday my impressions look out of whack. On the other hand, the amount per click has gone up, so my total is right around my daily average.
WidgetBucks has also started sending out payments to publishers, so that's good news. Here's my update on my experiences with them so far:
I just checked the date of my first post about WidgetBucks and see that I signed up on November 18 (that's one of the nice things about blogging - you can check your old posts to see exactly when you did something!) I also began using WidgetBucks on a second site on November 21.
As you'll see from my numbers, if WidgetBucks works out, it will be a good little stream of income for me.
For the month of November, I only have 13 days of earnings to report on for Site A, and 10 days of earnings for Site B. Site A sees a lot more traffic than Site B (about three times as much), which explains the big difference in results. But both these sites are very similar in terms of layout and types of niches (both are electronics niches), and I used the same ad format for both, yet Site A has a CTR that's 3 times more than Site B (I can't disclose actual CTR). That's another reason for the big difference in results.
So here are my November results:
Site A (from Nov. 19 to Nov. 30): $145.02
Site B (from Nov. 21 to Nov. 30): $18.17
I should also note that the first five or six days after I implemented WidgetBucks on Site A also coincided with a period of increased traffic to that site. I'm not sure why (I'd love to know why). Since most of my visitors came from Google, I figure it must have been a hiccup in the algorhythm. Things settled down after a while (unfortunately) but my CTR for Site A remains the same.
I also should be getting the $25 signup bonus when I get my first payment in January. I've just checked the "My Bucks" page, which is when they show the earnings that you will be getting in your next payment, and my sign-up bonus, my November earnings, and my referral earnings are all there.
