Another Popshops Update
November 14, 2007
In my last post about Popshops I mentioned that if I could actually add tracking to my Popshop links with an Enterprise account, I'd probably sign up for this higher-end version and start using Popshops on more of my sites.
Well, it turns out that the Enterprise version DOES support SID tracking codes, so I bit the bullet and upgraded my account. I decided to pay for a year to take advantage of the discount.
The result is that I've been creating a lot more Popshop pages. And I'm pleased to report that in the two to three weeks since I upgraded, I've more than made back the annual fee for the Enterprise version.
I'm still proceeding cautiously. While I do have the option to use PHP calls, for dynamically updated product listings, along with updated prices, I've decided to use HTML code for all my Popshops pages. My theory is that if I ever did decide to close my account with them, I'd have the tedious job of replacing links, but that's a whole lot better than the even more tedious chore of replacing links AND content.
All in all, though, Popshops is proving to be a great tool in terms of increasing my sales.

Is Popshops SEO friendly? Is it as SEO friendly as Build A Niche Store (BANS)?

Popshops code can definitely be SEO-friendly. Unlike BANs, which builds the pages for you, Popshops doesn't build your pages - it gives you code so that you can incorporate a targeted listing of affiliate products onto a page.
If you choose either the PHP or html code options, your affiliate store for that page will be SEO friendly - the search engines will read all the contents of your store. If you choose the javascript option, then it won't be.
The SEO elements of the rest of your page, though, would be up to you. But this also means that the customization options are endless.
