Internet Marketing vs. Affiliate Marketing

Lately I've been thinking more about Internet marketing - that is, selling my own products. It's always been a challenge for me to think about marketing my own products, mainly because I don't consider myself much of a sales person.
Now that things are running so smoothly on the affiliate marketing end of things for me, I've been thinking more about diving into Internet marketing. I have enough experience now with online marketing, and I feel ready to really get into the challenges of product creation and sales.
It helps that I've got a couple of niche sites tucked away with small but highly targeted email lists. And because I've been dabbling in these niches for a while now, I have become quite knowledgeable in the subject matter. That most definitely adds to my confidence level, gives me that feeling of "you can do it".
The other thing I've been taking a serious look at is the idea of using all the PLR content I have sitting on my hard drive and doing SOMETHING with them. Anything! I've got a little idea up my sleeve for that, a project I'm thinking about creating which will be quite fun.
It's definitely time I diversified, though.
I really like affiliate marketing - I like the fact that I don't have to make sales pitches with affiliate marketing. I don't have to worry about customer service or returns.
But I think there's also room for some different income streams - ones that are based on my own product. In the past, all I could see were the cons of Internet marketing - having to make sales pitches. Having to supply customer service. Having to deal with product returns.
It's kind of odd, because I'm not a negative thinker. But there you have it. I couldn't keep these challenges out of my mind.
Today, I feel differently. This is worth exploring some more, most definitely!
