Amazon Context Links

April 14, 2007

I've never done very well with Amazon affiliate links, even though I actually do use them on several of my sites.

(I did sell a laptop last quarter, for a whopping commission of $25.)

But I've decided to give the new Amazon Context Links a try, simply because it's as easy as dropping a bit of javascript into the footer of the sites where I've decided to test this out on.

I'll give it a bit of time, and report back on how well (or not) it works out. But I do like things that don't require a whole bunch of work, and these context links fit the bill there.

Funny you should blog about Amazon. I was recently wondering why I ever try to sell anything from them, they just don't deliver for me either.

I've even tried creating whole stores on Golden Can. Just a wee bit O coinchange...

Hi BJ,

So how are the Amazon ads doing so far?

Just awful. I've actually been getting a nice number of clickthroughs, but no sales.

I saw my monthly Amazon sales jump from about $47 to $170 with the Context Links. They do seem to be slowing down a bit as the users get used to them, but I'm happy with the results so far.
