The 50/100 Challenge

I'm big on self-motivation, so I like to set myself challenges. They don't always work out that well, but regardless of whether I meet my goal, just the act of saying to myself, "here's the challenge. Go to it!" is enough to get me going, and some results are always much better than no results.
So I say now - just don't ask me when I'm knee-deep in site building, okay?
I've been talking lately about small sites that make only a dollar or two a day. I'm sure you all have a few of those lying around. So Jenn and I got to talking about doing another challenge (she joined me last year on my challenge to build 50 affiliate sites and while we built the same number of sites in the end, she's had far better luck generating income from hers).
We've decided to go for 50 sites/$100 a day - that is, 50 small-ish sites that will generate a couple of dollars of income a day. Chrissie is also joining us, although she doesn't intend to blog about it the way Jenn and I will.
My focus this time around will be on:
1. Niche, niche and more niche.
2. Adsense.
3. Content.
4. Small, compact sites
and the biggie:
5. Promotion, promotion and then some more promotion.
If I learned one lesson last year in the affiliate marketing business, it's the power of promotion. Whether it's building buzz, building links or building a brand, promotion makes the difference between a dud and a money-maker.
Ideally - continuing along the lines of my passive income train of thought - I'd like to stumble across a few nice surprises as I build these sites.
Overall, this challenge plays into the whole "virtual real estate" mindset. For my personal VRE portfolio, I'm going for quantity, quality and diversification.
So, the challenge: build 50 sites (or thereabouts) and get them generating a couple of dollars a day (or thereabouts), to the tune of $100 a day.
Timeframe? All of 2007.
