Free Photoshop Alternative

There's one huge advantage of being a rather prolific blogger (too prolific sometimes but that's another story) - I regularly come across some great finds.
Paint.net is one of them. Specifically, version 3.0, which has just been released.
Here's what TechCrunch says about it:
"It is 3.6 MB download that handles most of the basic (and many of the advanced) functions of Photoshop. It’s free, and even better it loads in just a couple of seconds on a newish Windows PC."
I've downloaded it, but haven't had a chance to play around with it yet. But it does install fast (you'll need to have Microsoft .NET Framework installed, too).

I had to give this one a whirl ;) I usually use Fireworks but a girl can never have too many programs to work with!

I think if you don't use the functions of Photoshop fully, Paint.net might be a better application. It does a lot of the core stuff but not all of the advanced stuff that you might not even need. Or so I've heard :)
