bbPress: Add a Forum to Your Wordpress Blog

So I'm talking about how I want to build some sticky, community-type sites one day, and then the next day I come across bbPress, brought to you by the Wordpress folks.
It's made specifically for integrating a forum into your Wordpress site.
Features:

When I'd read about that - I was *excited* - that would be great to integrate into a WordPress blog.
I even downloaded it and tried to load it up. I don't know if it was just me (with limited programming skills) - with the instructions they gave. I got confused.
Have you tried it out? What did you think of the setup instructions?
... or is this a sign that I have to get my butt in gear and learn some programming to make all of this a little easier :)

No, I haven't downloaded it yet. I don't have a site that's ready yet for a forum, but I'm hoping it will come in handy once one of my sticky sites are at that stage.
Have you installed Wordpress manually before? I'm wondering if it's similar to that. And maybe it's an installation that will sooner or later get added to Fantastico, which would be fantastic!
