The Holiday Shopping Season Has Definitely Started!
September 18, 2006
Okay, so this year I'm entitled to get even more excited about the Christmas online shopping season than I did last year, because I have a lot more sites "in the running". Working a year ahead does pay off (and maybe those 37 "50-affiliate-sites-challenge" sites of mine will start making me happy this time next year!).
I'm starting to really see those "I wanna buy NOW" search terms landing visitors on my various affiliate sites, and it is just such fun.
Another surprise: Halloween is doing well for me.
One thing that's been working for me is keeping a close watch on my search stats. I've made a few sales already from just keeping an eye on search terms that are drawing in visitors, and then adding content and links targetting those items specifically. I find this is almost a "no fail" method for me, since I've already got a position on the search engines for those terms anyway. My clickthrough rates are good, so even when I don't make the sale, my visitor is cookied, so who knows?
(I wish I could get the same clickthrough rates on my Adsense sites that I'm getting on my affiliate sites, that's for sure.)
I also started, a few weeks ago, adding CJ links again, now that they've dropped the whole javascript-only model. Thank goodness - I do love Shareasale, but it is very nice to have a wider choice of merchants. Plus CJ is the only network that lets you search directly for specific products, which does make my life a lot easier.
Here's to the start of a great shopping season for all of us!
