Back in True Form (Sort Of)
June 13, 2006
It's been a while since I posted, but I should be posting more regularly starting next week. I got hit by a nasty stomach bug last week that lasted for just way too long. So I've been busy getting through the bunch of work that cropped up (naturally - isn't that Murphy's law?) while I was down, so to speak.
Not that my "time off" was so bad. I've been giving a lot of thought to my personal 50 affiliate sites challenge, and now I'm not too sure where I want to go with that.
A few of my existing sites are perking up, and are calling for some attention and expansion. Not that easy to do when I'm working on putting up 50 new sites. But they're kind of hollering away at me, saying, "POTENTIAL, POTENTIAL". (Don't you just love it when your sites talk to you?)
One thing I've been thinking about doing is putting up all my new domain names (I've registered about 30 new names for the challenge now), getting a few pages up for each that are on point, and getting a link to them so they get spidered. Some of my niches are really easy for me to write the content for, so I would probably continue to develop these ones.
And then once I have the "infrastructure" of all my new sites and folders up, I can just keep my keyword lists in a big binder and write various articles for various sites when I have time, and gradually build them all at once, rather than building a few complete ones at a time.
Or ... maybe I should consider outsourcing my articles. I don't know about that, though. I write so quickly and easily, and my writing is good (if I do say so myself) that it seems like such a shame to outsource the content.
Decisions, decisions. But ultimately, I know I do need to grab some time to plump up the sites that are perking up and calling for my attention.

If writing is easy for you, i'd have to say don't outsource.
You are going to have a lot of time into proofreading the articles. Also, if you pay around $5 a pop for them, they will be in a somewhat raw form that will need touching up to make them web-ready. Also, you'll need to check them for plagerism with a site like copyscape.com.
It can be quite the task and I don't recommend doing it yet, atleast not when you're trying to do 50 other things...literally. :)

Glad to hear that you're on the mend.
I agree with Brandon, only outsource the stuff that you find hard to do, if you find the writing easy keep it in-house, this is supposed to be enjoyable as well as profitable ;)

I've posted a quick summary of your efforts (well, some of them) over at http://www.nettrevenue.com/
Keep up the good work - it would be a shame to see them hit the backburner for too long (research gets stale quickly enough). As for outsourcing, save yourself some time and go with a trusted party, that way you minimize the risk (I've used a few at DP).
Anyway, all the best - and most importantly - make bucketloads ;)
Cheers,
JL
