Niche-Hunting at NetShops
April 11, 2006
I realized this past weekend that something good has come out of getting new site after new site sandboxed. It's turned my attention back on my existing sites, as well as the excitement of looking for new affiliate opportunities.
I find that with new sites, I'm very focused on Adsense. But once a site is up and running, and Adsense is going (whether middling, so-so or great, it's going - that's the nice thing about Adsense. You can stick it in your template and forget about it, so to speak), I always like to keep my eye out for new merchants to promote.
And when I get too frustrated with Adsense, it's always nice to start re-focusing on the affiliate marketing side of things.
I've been so focused on Adsense lately, I'd forgotten the fun of searching out new affiliate programs.
I spent this entire weekend at each of the major affiliate networks, as well as at NetShops, a smaller network that is filled with very tightly-niched stores. I especially like NetShops because it's a great place to go and brainstorm a new niche.
Netshops is so tightly niched, they even have a merchant that sells only wine racks. Another one sells fire pits. There are tons of possibilities - and I especially like thinking up sites that cover a topic that can encompass three or four of the Netshops merchants.
Not that this helps me that much with making over existing sites, although I've figured out ways to take a few old sites into new directions as a result.
Anyway, happy niche hunting!

I LOVE NetShops! In fact, if you follow the link in your post, you'll see they've quoted me saying as much at the bottom of that page ;-)

BJ,
Is there a problem with the NetShops affiliate program? The http://www.netshopsaffiliates.com/ site appears to be down.
