A New Blogging Pattern

February 16, 2006

I'm still finishing up some remaining deadlines, but a couple of them have been pushed into the next month, so after tonight, I really am facing a nice chunk of time to work on all my online projects. And today I've been thinking about my blogging pattern, and realizing that some changes are definitely in order.

For the past five months, I've had a fairly consistent work pattern. Basically, I handle all offline deadlines during the day, and then after dinner I work on content for my sites. After that, I do my blogging.

(Oh, and yes, the kids and husband get slotted in there too. Most days.)

So, I normally don't get around to blogging until around 11:00 in the evening. This worked fairly well for me.

But these days, the number of projects I'm blogging to has increased. I have set myself posting goals (which I don't necessarily meet. It depends on what's up during my day) and as a result, I'm finding that starting to blog at 11:00 in the evening has been leading to some very late nights.

Too many late nights make me a very cranky, not to mention inefficient, person. And I've been getting tired at night long before I finish blogging, and as a result, I haven't kept up with my posts on a number of blogs, including this one.

So a change is definitely in order. I have to take another look at my schedule, and figure out how to accommodate the larger chunk of time it takes me these days to do my blogging.

If I do figure it out, you should all be seeing more of me around these parts.

Sometimes I wish we were able to clone ourselves - so there was ample time for everything. I have the worst time trying to keep everything balanced, and end up neglecting something/someone. If you figure out a happy medium - I'd love to hear about it! :)

Me too - it would be lovely to have lots of time for everything. You're on, though - if I find a happy medium, I'll be sure to post about it :)

Clones (drooool). I'd love to have a couple of those myself. These 32 hour days and making me a little cranky too :)

I think I'm just going to have to break down and get another assistant.

In the meantime, if you find the perfect solution, I'd like to hear about it too.
