Optiniche Templates (or, Synchronicity Hits Again)

November 19, 2005

Earlier this week, I posted about having a few ugly sites lying around, ready to be launched, and how I really have to just get over the whole "ugly site" thing, and get these sites up and live and ready for the search engines.

As Chrispian commented, after all, it's not like they'll be swarming with visitors in those first few days/weeks/months. Actually, he put it much better than that: about new sites, "I wouldn't worry so much about people finding you walking around naked, so to speak ;)"

Well, I got incredibly lucky. I own a copy of Optiniche, a great Wordpress resource that includes an ebook on setting up and optimizing a niche Wordpress blog, an invaluable plug-in, a great word-of-mouth script and an Optiniche template, ready for use as is. But there's a bonus to owning the ebook that Teli, the author of Optiniche, probably doesn't emphasize enough.

With Optiniche, you also get access to the Optiniche blog. While some of the content is public, the core of the blog is password protected and open only to owners of Optiniche. The private posts are worth the cost of the ebook in and of themselves (my personal opinion), and earlier this week, Teli added even more value to the members-only area: she uploaded five new Optiniche templates which members can download for free.

So here's the synchronicity: the very first template was almost an exact match for a new header I had designed for one of my ugly sites! I've been sitting here, with this nice simple header that I really liked, and figuring I would have to later get a designer to put together a template for me that would reflect the same simple lines of the header.

Now it turns out Teli already did this for me!

Anyway, I think this is one of two sites that I will (hopefully) launch tomorrow. The other site, ironically, uses one of Teli's Optiniche Pro templates, which is also "ready-to-run" with the Optiniche plugin and script. I have had this template for a few weeks, and it wasn't until another comment on my ugly site post reminded me that I could use a nicely designed ready-made template, that I put two and two together and realized I actually already had one, ready to be used and ready for the search engines, that was perfect.

I'll post more about these sites once I get them online.

And if you are running some niche Wordpress blogs, or really want to, I can't recommend Optiniche highly enough. In addition to the ebook itself, the plugin, script, template and the private posts on the blog,Teli also has a number of visual Wordpress tutorials that come with the purchase, and she's planning to add a few more.
