Busy Season Around Here ... And Some Motivation
November 28, 2005
I haven't posted in over a week - it's busy season around here again. This week coming up is particularly heavy, with four deadlines. It slows down a bit next week but I have to keep on top of things, because for some reason this year the bulk of my deadlines are falling right during the Christmas holidays.
I've been seeing a nice surge in traffic with a lot of my sites, which is nice, but looking at all the figures, I do realize one thing. I haven't focused as much on the types of products that people look for during the holiday season, something which I will definitely have to think hard about as soon as offline work gives me some breathing room.
When I am so submerged in work, I find it necessary to keep reading motivating articles. Books are lovely, but right now I just don't have the time to sit with a book. But articles only take a small bit of time, and I get the motivation I need.
So here are a few things that tumbled into my inbox and my RSS reader today:
Five Words to Create Unstoppable Confidence: this article comes from Motivation123. I've been a subscriber to the site's newsletter for a while, but to be honest, it's not one of the newsletters on my "always read as soon as it lands in my inbox" list. I actually came across this article via another blog, the Occupational Adventure. (Isn't that such a great name for a blog?)
Do It Now. I haven't read this yet, but I printed it out and will do so when I need a break from work. I stumbled onto Steve Pavlina's blog about three weeks ago, and it's now one of my daily reads.
I was actually feeling so submerged in work a couple of weeks ago, things were looking really dark. I decided to read Steve's blogs in chunks, and my mood lifted, the ideas came flowing again, and I was able to look at the workload with appreciation and the knowledge that next year this time I'll have enough coming in from my online stuff that I'll be able to cut back on a lot of the offline work.
I introduced my friend Gail to Steve's blog, and she just told me the other day his podcasts are just amazing. So they're on my list, too.
And finally, Paul Myers is offering his Goal-Setting Workbook for free again. As he puts it in his newsletter:
It really is free. There's an option to subscribe on the page, but you can download the book and worksheets without signing up for anything at all.Except for a (very) short mention of this newsletter, there aren't even any ads in it.

I'm really enjoying reading Steve Pavlina's site and didn't know he had podcasts! Since I am such a podcast addict at the moment, I will definitely check those out! ...and thanks for the Goal-Setting Workbook link. I have so many goals and ideas at the moment, that I need to reign it in before I get too scattered.
take care,
Liz

I am trying so hard to find some time to listen to Steve's podcasts, Liz. The work I'm doing doesn't work very well with listening to audio stuff - I'm always typing, and sometimes I'll type in what I'm hearing rather than what I'm thinking!
