Had an SEO-Lapse For a Moment
October 04, 2005
It's back to the drawing board with my "Recommended Products" box. I realized this morning that it was a major SEO-lapse. Now I need to figure out a way to position the box where I want it but have it appear below my content in the source code.
I figure, where there's a will, there's a way. Right? But if anyone reading this knows how, I'd love to hear from you! I'm figuring I might be able to use positioning to do this, but so far I'm getting severe overlap ...

Indeed. You are already using css, so put the new column at the end of your css file but have it float left. That should work, shouldn't it? I'm sure a little tweaking may be necessary, but I think that should work.

That doesn't seem to work for me. I had it set up that way originally, and the recommended products content was showing up before the text in my posts in the source code.
What I need to do is be able to put my "div" "/div" for the recommended box at the end of my content so that the recommended products content shows up after my post text in the source code, but onscreen it shows up next to the post. Kind of like floating sidebars. But I can't quite figure out whether it's possible to float a box in that way, rather than an entire sidebar.
Do you think it's do-able? I'm starting to think it might not be, without a whole lot of overlap ...

I have a solution for you because I wanted to do the same thing.

it's a little hard to explain here so I put it on my website.

I checked out your page, Brent - that's sort of what I want to do, except that, if we used the yellow box as my "recommended products" box, I'd like to have the yellow box show up on screen exactly where you have it, but in the source code, I'd like to have the code for it come after the code for my title and content.
Not sure if I'm making any sense now ... and it might well be it's not really possible and I need to turn the recommended product box into a left sidebar instead.
Or maybe I should just go with Brendan's idea and stick it at the end of each post, trusting that people will actually read to the end of my posts :)
