Google Finally Found Me!

October 06, 2005

Okay, my title isn't really accurate. The site I'm talking about has been in Google's index for a while. But while I get a lot of Yahoo and MSN traffic, I've never gotten a single visitor via a Google search. Until yesterday. I'm not sure what's happened, but I took a peek, and I'm ranking six for one of my main keywords.

When I say, "I'm not sure what's happened", that's not really accurate, either. I have a suspicion. I did some experimenting not too long ago, so I'm going to extend the experiment and see what happens from there. But one thing that surprises me is that I did my tinkering a very short while back, so I may be totally off-base and my tweaking and fiddling didn't have anything to do with finally coming up in the search results.

I'll report back once I have more conclusive results.

This is big!!

Can you tell me when you registered the domain for this site?

Allan, I'm not sure if what I did was responsible, and I also want to give it a couple of days to see if the results are stable, or if Google will revert back to ignoring my site again. I'll give it a couple more days and keep checking my stats.

Jenn, I'm not so sure about "big" :) The main thing about this is not so much what I did (what I did was actually pretty standard off-site SEO stuff) but how quickly it worked - basically, within two days I was showing up in the results. I can't believe the speed (if what I did was actually responsible).

The domain has been registered and live for over a year.

I'll definitely post an update in the next few days.
