Getting Dropped From Google SERPs: It Can Happen To Anyone

October 10, 2005

I was doing more catch-up reading of all the feeds I'm subscribed to, and came across this post from Jon Gales' blog

Jon Gales runs MobileTracker, and would fit anyone's list of successful bloggers.

It turns out that he experienced a couple of dark months, SERPs-wise, with Google this summer. Here's how he sums up his experience:

While it wasn’t fun, it’s nice to know that it’s possible to continue with the site and income if there is a big (permanent) shift at Google. This experience reaffirms my goal to not depend on any one source of traffic or revenue.

Sounds like a good goal for all of us. The only thing I would add, is that it's also a good idea to have a handful of sites too, just in case.
