Article Miner Review

October 03, 2005

I bought Article Miner last week - I had had my eye on it for a little while, and finally decided to take the plunge and try it out. I'm really glad I did - it's kept me busy this week and I know it will be very useful.

I definitely recommend Article Miner if you publish reprint articles on your websites. While you can go to each of the article directories and search for articles, Article Miner will save you a lot of time. It formats the articles, including the links in the author resource box at the end of each article. And the thing I like best is that you have this nice database of articles sitting right on your desktop.

There are also a bunch of other features - you can read more about it in my review of Article Miner.

I also invested in Article Miner this week, thanks to your recommendation and I LOVE IT! I think it's going to be helpful for many things and I am doing a bunch of testing so far ;)

Hey BJ,
How would you compare Article Miner with Article Fetcher (which I bought per your recommendation!)?

Thanks.

Hi, Carrie,

The difference between AC Fetcher and Article Miner is that AC Fetcher allows you to fetch articles from GoArticles (which no longer permits automated search requests, so Myleena has built up her own database of articles which the updated AC Fetcher now searches), while Article Miner's database contains articles taken from ten different article directories, including GoArticles. So with Article Miner, your selection of articles is much larger. The database also sits on your hard drive, so you don't have to go online to do the search.

But probably the biggest difference is that Article Miner incorporates a site builder, so you can build your site directly from the software. I used AC Fetcher in two ways - I cut and pasted the formatted articles into the sites I run with Wordpress, and with the latest upgrade of Xsite Pro, I used the preformatted articles with the import feature. I suspect I will likely continue to do the same with Article Miner, but the site builder is a handy feature to have. Right now all I'm doing is converting the articles found into a very plain template, so that the output I get is similar to what I get with AC Fetcher. The main reason I'm doing this is because I've been publishing reprint articles on existing sites, although I could also customize one of my existing templates and input it into Article Miner.

I'll definitely be using the site building feature, though, with new sites that are still on the drawing board.

The import function is another big difference, because you can import your own articles (or articles you've commissioned to be written for you) and then use the site builder to build your site using your imported articles.

AC Fetcher is a great no-frills program that does one thing, and does it well - it searches Myleena's database and pulls articles related to your keyword. As far as I know, Myleena's database is based on the GoArticles article directory.

Article Miner is more of a "one-stop" solution that is also updated regularly with new articles that have been submitted to all ten of the article directories that it features. Because it will also build your sites for you, as well as gradually ftp-ing new pages up so that your site shows a slow growth over time, it's definitely more than just a database of articles sitting on your desktop.

I think if you have AC Fetcher, and don't think you will have much use for Article Miner's various site-building features, Article Miner's probably not going to make that much difference for you, although you'll be able to pull more articles from Article Miner's database since it's a very big database. But if you would like to have a program that can also do something with the articles that it pulls, then Article Miner is a very good solution.

Hope that helps!
