Some Niche Fun
September 16, 2005
Thanks to some inspiring email conversations with Chrissie, I decided today to stop by the local bookstore and have some niche fun.
It was nice to immerse myself in ideas again. I have been looking for niches for a new strategy I'm trying out, and the magazine section of the bookstore was a goldmine. I was there with my husband and my baby, so I didn't actually have time to browse through all the magazines, only half of them.
I have to say, there are a TON of magazines serving the car and automotive industry. I have absolutely no interest in this sector, and kind of wish I did. If you're even halfway interested in cars, you might want to take a look at finding a nice narrow niche in this industry. At the bookstore, there were two entire newstands of magazines devoted to cars and automotive matters.
What I figure is, lots of magazines = big market = lots of advertisers. And that's something an affiliate marketer doesn't want to ignore (unless, of course, you're like me and cars make you yawn.) I found lots of other niches though, so it was time well-spent.

Ha! I inspired someone, how about that ;)
Funny thing is I thought of doing a small car niche site but not for myself, but for my Dad. His *life* is cars, cars and more cars.
I hope to get to the bookstore tomorrow, it really is helpful for researching ;) Have fun!

Good to see you back.
Ever since I found Darren, I've been trying to figure out what of his I can use and what not. I'm so infatuated with his style. I think ProBlogger is a great example of a niche site/blog. It's not just an accounting of daily activity or events, but actually information. I used that style for my e-comm blog. Since I can't seem to keep myself out of my posts and because my time is tight, I outsourced the articles. It's turning out pretty good.

Oh, Nikki, me too. He is very nice and the tips he offers on ProBlogger are great. He's the first blog I check every day when I open up my FeedDemon.
Good to hear about the outsourced articles working.
