PR Update ... Fun and Games Again!

July 15, 2005

There's another toolbar PR update going on. I always find these things fun to watch, but never really let it get me either elated or down - even my meagre experience has shown that toolbar PR doesn't mean much when it comes to actual SERP positioning for my major keywords.

There's one big difference I'm seeing this time around, though, with this particular update. I'm getting PR on sites that are really new.

And my poor little site that's Yahoo's darling - Google's ranked part of the site, but the main page just can't seem to get either PR or indexed. I get a ton of traffic from Yahoo, though, which has been translating well in terms of Adsense income and a few affiliate sales, so maybe it's time I start working on Google. It just may be time to put together a Google XML sitemap for that site.

How's the PR update going for you?

I was pretty stoked when I saw that Google was updating their PR. Only because (as you noticed) the site that I put online just a little over a month ago - has a PR 3. Which is something that has eluded me with other sites I've built... usually they start out with a PR 1 or 2. It also acknowledges... that this site I just built is actually in Google. Ah, good times.

Hey BJ,

Isn't it fun, though?? I was excited to see my first affiliate site that I put up in December now has a PR4, now to get out of that Google sandbox...

So far, so good - I was shocked to see the green bar on some of my sites ;) I have so much work to do... But I have all new projects on hold until I get everything currently in the works where it needs to be. Its not been easy though.......
