Dreamhost Webhosting
July 10, 2005
Update: Dreamhost has been having issues in the past three months or so and I am no longer as happy with them as I once was. They gave me a one-year anniversary certificate back in November, which I had forgotten about, so I've applied that, plus downgraded my service to the smallest package so basically my hosting with them is paid for for the next 5 months. I've pulled my major sites from there, but have left my personal sites.
I've also closed the comments - way too many spammers trying to get their affiliate promo codes in here.
What I said back in July:
How's this for synchronicity? In my last post about how to set up a niche site using Wordpress, I mentioned that I use Dreamhost and Site5. Well, it turns out Dreamhost has a special promotion going on right now. This is an amazing deal, considering the quality of the webhosting: I think it works out to less than 80 cents a month! Here's what you do: go to their site, and order the Level 1, L'il Crazy Domain Insane plan, for one year. Normally this plan goes for $119.40 a year, but this special promo will get you the plan for $9.24 for the entire year. The package includes these features:
• 2400 MB Storage
• 120 GB Transfer ($1/GB extra)
• 3 Domains Hosted
• 15 Sub-Domains Hosted
• 600 Mailboxes
• 75 Shell Users
• One FREE .com/.net/.org/.info domain
• CGI/FrontPage 2002 Extensions
• PHP4, perl, python, C, C++
• Unlimited MySQL Databases
• IMAP, POP3, and Web-Based email access
• Unlimited email aliases, auto-responders, announcement lists, discussion lists, media streaming, and more
It only works if you order the one year plan. In the section where they ask for any promo codes, enter 777. This promo deal is for new users only, by the way. I emailed them to see if there was an end date for the promo, and as of yet, they don't have one.
The plan I have with them is the Code Monster plan, which is 15 domains. It's on sale too for $19.97 a month. But this L'il Crazy Domain deal (just click on the banner that says "from $7.95 a month" and enter the order process from there) is one of the best deals I've seen. Just don't forget to enter the promo code: 777.
As for the quality of their webhosting services, I can definitely vouch for them. I've been with them now for about seven months, and in that time my sites have all been doing great. And their customer support is fabulous. You'll also receive the monthly newsletter, which is one of the funniest things I've ever read.

I'm glad you can make use of this, Chrissie. I just corrected my post, because I realized I had said I had the Code Monster package with unlimited domains, but it's really 15 domains. I really wanted to take advantage of this promo myself - it's cheaper than adding on more domains to my package, I think - but unfortunately I can't since I'm not a new user :(
I know you'll like Dreamhost, though - their services are great, and their customer service is excellent.

I am extremely pleased thus far. I had an issue with the domain I registered and emailed them. I already got my reply [on a Sunday no less]. So thanks again! I wouldn't have known about it, if you hadn't posted here ;)
