AC Fetcher: Article Fetcher Software

July 01, 2005

Update: ArticleCity recently disabled it's search function, but Myleena has upgraded Article Fetcher and it now searches her own database of 20,000+ articles. She will also be regularly adding new articles to her database on a weekly basis, and it sounds like there will be regular article updates that will include at least the newest articles from ArticleCity.

Looking around the forums, it looks like everyone's talking about articles. It's probably already occurred to you, but the one great thing about products like Article Announcer is that there will now be a lot more content available for the rest of us affiliate marketers.

While there are some expensive programs floating around that will search through all the different article directories for articles, last week I bought an inexpensive program that does the job wonderfully.

Article Fetcher is a great little program that will search the Article City directory for articles, based on your keywords. It pulls together a list of articles for you, and you can then select the ones you want (or just select all) and with the click of a button, convert each article selected into either a text or an html document. The html documents can be pasted directly into your web pages, or easier still, you can pull them in with includes. (Edited: Well, of all things - somehow I messed up and didn't hyperlink my Article Fetcher aff link. Sheesh. It's done now.)

I tried out the program as soon as I got it, and it is extremely easy to use. The conversion to html works nicely and with a few clicks of a button, I really did have a bunch of articles, all formatted the way I wanted them.

The software developer, Myleena, is very nice and accessible. I haven't heard yet whether she plans on expanding the scope of Article Fetcher to include other article directories. And AC Fetcher is so affordable, I'm not complaining!

(Update, October 2, 2005: If you're looking for more of a "one-stop" publishing solution, and a program that searches through more article directories, Article Miner might be more suitable. It's definitely a lot more expensive than AC Fetcher, though, so it's probably something to look into only if you are interested in a program that combines site-building features with the article fetching feature.)

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but how would you use these articles? You wouldn't post stories written by someone else on your sites, would you?
Just curious.

Hi, Jon,

Yes, I will be publishing these articles on my sites. They add more pages to your site, which is always good, and they also give your visitors good value. It works out well for everyone, because you're basically exchanging a link out from your site to the author's site, in return for content.

As far as duplicate content is concerned, if you look at one of the articles and do a Google search for its title, or for a line from the article, you'll see that Google will pull up a bunch of results, all of which will be pages on other sites using the article. So these pages do get indexed, and they do come up in the search results.

There are also lots of ways to differentiate the content, and to add desired keywords to the page, too. One thing I do often is to preface each article with a short "Editor's note". Another method, if you're good with coding, is to write a series of single paragraphs, and have a random content rotator insert them onto your pages.

You can have a lot of success using articles written by someone else. And I guess one of the biggest benefits is that they offer your visitors additional value.

Hope this helps!

I just purchased AC Fetcher, but it doesn't seem to bring up any articles. It said it was scanning, but it never brought any up. I have Windows 98SE. Is that a problem?

Pat, did you try another keyword? I can't think of anything else, unless perhaps your firewall is blocking the software from accessing the internet. If you're having problems, contact Myleena - she was very quick to reply to me when I sent her feedback with suggestions for the next version.

Hope this helps.

Hi BJ

I did a search on article miner and your site was ranked second. Well done.

I don't need the web site building bits from Article Miner and am interested in the functionality to get articles; simply the converstion and add some HTML and then create a page I can upload.

The background:

I am an affiliate and user of Sitesell.com and they have a nice free search tool (and viral affiliate tool - the link is my affiliate link - if you don't like the affiliate bit just skip the last part of the url)

Secondly I am not trying to sell you anything - I need advice :-)

http://searchit.sitesell.com/John452.html

If you got to:

1> Refrence Liabrary >

2 > select search type

3> enter search term

you get free articles.

If I look at these there products and I want to save or rather not waste money how do they compare on finding articles?

If this is a tall order - please - can you help me with a comparison of the two products you discuss here.

Regards

Hi BJ

There is one (maybe two) major difference(s) between article fecther and article miner that have made it easy for me to decide.

If I only had the two to choose from I will choose article miner:

1) They have many more aritcle sites they inlcude.

2) I like it when I see a software product has a support forum on the sales page.

Regards

Johan

Hi, Johan,

The difference between the Sitesell search tool and Article Miner is the same as the difference between any search function on an article directory site itself and Article Miner - the search function accomplishes one specific task manually - finding a relevant reprint article. Article Miner is a whole different ballgame - it's a software solution, automated, with access to a lot more articles because there are more articles in your database.

As for the difference between Article Miner and AC Fetcher, if you read this post: http://www.adventuresinnetmarketing.com/2005/10/article_miner_r.html
and scroll down the comments, you will see I've written up the comparison there.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I'm guessing that both these pieces of software are only available for Windows?
As an AppleMac user, I'm finding it hard to locate a similar program for OSX . . . . any helpers please?

Thanks.
