Photoshop InDepth
June 16, 2005
Okay, I'm cheating a little, sticking this post under "Free Resources and Tools". But at only $10.00, the Practical Photoshop Starter's Guide is pretty cheap, and an amazing value for the information it contains.
The premise of this little ebook is that you need to know the foundations of certain Photoshop techniques in order to be creative with the program. It's one thing to always be shopping around for the latest special effect tutorial, but this book gives you the basics, so that you can take off from there and not simply end up doing what everyone else is doing.
As the author says:
... you will find that it really helps you to grasp the uses and methods of each tool in Photoshop. With this knowledge, you can start your own journey of exploration in Photoshop. You are not groping in the dark, struggling to do simple procedures in Photoshop anymore.
I tend to use Photoshop Elements more myself now, but if you have Photoshop and you haven't been sure how to get good use out of your program for things like graphics for your sites, and banners and headers, take a look at the Practical Photoshop Starter's Guide. You can download a few sample chapters as well. It's definitely well worth it's $10 price tag.
