When You Have Computer Problems ... It's Time to Go Read a Book
May 18, 2005
My computer's been driving me bonkers all day. Incredibly slow and I can't tell you how many times I had to manually reboot. It even hung up during scandisk. Severe aggravation here, that's for sure.
So, I'm trying to look on the bright side. I guess I'll actually have a chance to finish Getting Things Done tonight. So far it's shaping up to be as terrific as I thought it would be.
I'm on the other computer right now posting this while trying to do a systems restore on my computer (you know things are bad when even systems restore doesn't want to work). I can't really work on this other computer because (1) it doesn't have an ergo keyboard (2) its mouse is like a mouse on steroids and the cursor's zooming all over the place and (3) (most important) all my Stuff is on MY computer, just the way I like it. Favorite sites bookmarked, my FeedDemon filled with more Stuff, one click access to all my Really Important Stuff. Not to mention my email. And IM. And my web editing programs. And all my research. And half-written content.
And did I mention, all my Stuff is there, not here?
Argh.
I miss my Stuff. It's amazing just how reliant I am on my desktop. I mean, I do have a laptop. And I have to say, right now it strikes me as really silly that I don't have my laptop set up to include all the Important Stuff I have on my desktop.
It's hard to do any web site work when you don't have access to all the tools you're used to using, that's for sure.
I think the Universe might be trying to tell me to take a break. Read that book. Get started on getting things done.

Thanks for the offer of help, Tara. Knock wood, but I think I fixed it. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Computer problems are the worst!! I had my desktop and laptop go down at the same time and I was FREAKING OUT!! The desktop got fixed but the laptop was gone forever, I was able to pull my files off but that was about it. Talk about s-t-r-e-s-s! I still need to go buy a new laptop but waiting till I have cash in hand, I refuse to finance.
I got off topic as usual ;) Glad its fixed BJ, I will keep my fingers crossed!

Ouch! I could not imagine having BOTH laptop and desktop down at the same time, Chrissie.
