A Different Voice in the Internet Marketing Wilderness

May 17, 2005

If you do your fair share of cruising the various forums, you've probably come across him. His name is JScott, and his posts always pack quite a punch. He's a distinctive and very refreshing voice for those of you who are tired of the same-old-same-old gurus.

I find I always feel a bit more inspired whenever I come across one of his posts. And yes, the ideas definitely start multiplying.

You can also check out what he has to say at his new blog, the Road to Forbes. Warning: He tells it the way he sees it. He's blunt and to the point:

Forget mission statements. They went out when S. Covey started doing consulting. We do not like him. If you do, you should leave. This site chases players. Business Players. We encourage ladder climbers and wealth creators. In short, we are here for 5% of the world's population. It makes for a bad site, but a great life.

So, no, he's not your run-of-the-mill marketer. He brings a laser sharp business focus to the Internet marketing world, but with an eclectic touch. Good stuff.

(By the way, I do like Stephen Covey's stuff. I'm basically a self-help book junkie, whether it's business, life or way out in woowoo land.)

You have quite a kack for writing. I have been reading this spot for quite a long while. There is always a sense of calm and softness. You save me 250 bucks an hour in therapy.

We should talk about Covey. The guy is alright. I am sure I would be friends with him if was his neighbor.

I will blog this later today and perhaps get a back and forth going.

And btw, you should check out the book: Budhhism-It's not what you think. Even if you do not adhere to it as a life philosophy it has some interesting thought starters.

Thanks, Jscott. Calm? That is quite a compliment because I always feel like I'm falling way short of calm - and calm is one of my goals. Usually I'm running around in a frenzy ...

I'll definitely check out the Buddhism book.

About Covey, I guess I usually end up just taking the best "bits" from everything I read. If it makes sense to me, I'm going to give it a whirl. If it doesn't, I read on, because maybe there will be something that will make sense to me. I'm not very good at adopting one person's approach whole-hog, though.
