Submissions to Directories

March 03, 2005

I just spent the morning submitting sites to different directories. It's been a few months since I did this maintenance/upkeep type of work, and I'd forgotten just how long it takes! I started at 10:00 and decided to call it quits two and a half hours later, but when I go through my list, I see I didn't really get as many submissions done as I'd wanted to.

I see I'm going to have to schedule time to do this type of work on a weekly basis, so I don't get too far behind. It's rather daunting to sit down at the computer and see a huge list of directories to which you've got to submit another list of sites. And once I get more sites up and running ... it might be time then to hire a virtual assistant to help out!

Why are you wasting time submitting to directories. Once you build quality backlinks and more of your articles get links because they are good articles the search engines will find you. I don't submit to directories anymore. It is just a waste of time

Nah, not a waste of time. One of the sites is for my husband's business and he absolutely refuses to do link exchanges. My hands are kind of tied there. I am going the article route with him, though. Because we have a local focus, we've had a lot of luck with the local directories. So no problem there.

But most of my other sites are either blog based or have blogs on them - and blog directories are definitely great ways to build traffic as well as build backlinks.
