Nixing the Assistant Idea

January 29, 2005

Well, I'm sad to report here that my assistants have not been working out. I've released one, as gently as I could. The other one is a friend, so I'm doing my best to walk her through things and hopefully get her to where I need her to be.

But after the last late night (made necessary by the assistant I fired - lots and lots of work fixing up her work) I realized that having assistants for my offline business really didn't fit into my entire business plan. I need to have the time and energy to commit to my web publishing business, and when I really think about it, it's pretty clear that having to stress over someone else's work isn't going to help me much in terms of my marketing.

So there is some sort of a silver lining here. Sometimes I can get so caught up in an idea that I don't take the time to really see that ... IT DOESN'T FIT MY LIFE PLAN.

I guess it was worth that all-nighter. The client was happy and I learnt something important.
